The Footpath and Restoration Group work with the Council’s Parks and Countryside Service to make improvement throughout the Woods.

Super Nature Installation Art

Inspired by the ancient magic of Ecclesall Woods comes an installation art that is of this world and out of this world. You’ll discover nature as you’ve never seen it before with works including huge tactile textile fungi climbing the walls and ceilings, woodland soundscapes that alter your perception, hybrid fantasy florals, sculptural installations that embalm stories and floating digital collages that merge the forest together into new entities. Come for the art and stay to explore the woods that inspired it all.

Fungi Trail

Explore the secret life of the forest on The Friends of Ecclesall Woods self-guided Fungi Trail.

Pumpkin Trail

Join us for Our Fairy Tale theme Pumpkin Trail, where you’ll collect a map and embark on a fun-filled hunt through the woods to find hidden pumpkins. Each pumpkin is uniquely carved into imaginative characters from a different fairy tale.

Witchlight Twilight Trail

This Halloween, step into Ecclesall Woods for A Twilight Trail: Witchlight, a brand-new interactive family event from Growtheatre. On Thursday 30 October, families can enjoy a softly lit woodland trail filled with enchanting characters, hidden surprises, and atmospheric fun. The adventure ends with a cosy campfire, where marshmallows and stories await. With limited places available, booking is essential.

Wreath Making with the Rangers

Join us for a casual and creative wreath-making workshop in the heart of the woods! Using foliage we’ve foraged from the surroundings, you’ll craft your own unique natural wreath with hands-on help from our ranger.
Whether you come with family or friends, it’s a fun-filled, relaxed way to connect with nature and create something beautiful to take home.
What to expect:
Use of natural woodland items, pre made willow base and ribbon
Bring anything additional you would like to add to your wreath
Bring your own gloves and seceteurs if you can
