Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or honoring a loved one, the Sycamore Suite and Hector’s House offer memorable spaces for both celebrations and wakes, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Ecclesall Woods.
Celebrations
The Woodland Discovery Centre is a unique and intimate venue offering a beautiful environment for a variety of occasions. Nestled within the heart of Ecclesall Woods, our spaces provide the perfect backdrop for gentle birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers, or any special gathering.
Celebrations can be hosted Monday to Sunday until 9pm.
Wakes and Celebrations of Life
If you’re seeking a special space to celebrate the life of a loved one, the venue rooms offers a peaceful setting for wakes and celebrations of life. Surrounded by the beauty of the woodland, it is the perfect space for family and friends to gather and remember.
Monday or Tuesday are recommended for wakes as these are the quietest days.

Sycamore Suite
An airy sycamore clad space with private patio and a stunning view of the woods.

Hector's House
A charming timber framed building, kept warm by a log burning stove.
Please note toilets are in The Woodland Discovery Centre across the courtyard.

Food and Drink
You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages to your event. We offer urns, mugs, and glassware to accommodate your needs. From Tuesday to Friday, The Woodland Stop Cafe can provide a delightful unlimited drinks package, a buffet lunch, and sweet treats for dessert.
Alternatively, you are welcome to bring in your own external caterer. Please note, food must be fully prepared prior to arrival, as we do not have a service kitchen on-site.
Alcohol and Music
You are welcome to bring your own alcohol. However, please note that we are currently unable to accommodate an external bar.
We are unable to host celebrations that involve most live music, however acoustic performances may be possible.

Pricing
Weekend: £350 – £850
Mid week: £130 – £500
Our pricing is determined by the day of the week, the duration of the hire and the room selected. Please get in touch for a quote.
Car and Bike Parking
We have a general public car park on site with limited spaces. Please note we cannot reserve general parking. There is additional parking along Abbey Lane and Whirlowdale Road.
The car park can be particularly busy on Thursdays and weekends.
We kindly request a donation for on site car parking to help look after this special place. This can be made at our on site payment station.
We have secure bike parking onsite.
